Valentine's Day falls on Saturday, Presidents' Day Weekend starts Sunday. If you're trying to do something special without losing your mind, here are 4 things we'd actually take our own kids to.

The Franklin Institute · Center City · Sat & Sun, extended hours · All ages
🟡Pack snacks · Opening weekend means crowds — go when doors open
If your kid has ever made you watch a Universal movie 47 times in a row, this is your moment. Props, photo ops, behind-the-scenes stuff from Harry Potter, Jurassic World, Minions — the works. Opening weekend means extended hours but also means everyone else had the same idea. Get there early or accept your fate.

🟡Dress warm · $27 tickets, skate rental extra
Fire pits, ice sculptures, and actual Valentine's Day vibes on the waterfront. You don't have to skate if you don't want to — plenty to see just walking around. Tickets are $27 (yeah, they were $23 in January, but we're not here to judge). Dress warm, obviously.

Kids Night Out drop-off · Ages 5+ · Monthly, 5–8 PM
Need a date night? The Dandelion Project runs a monthly Kids Night Out where you drop off your kids (ages 5+) for three hours of crafts, games, movies, and free play. All staff have clearances and first aid training, so you can actually relax. It's run by a self-directed learning community that lets kids choose how they spend their time — not a crafter? No problem. Check their site for the next date.
